To be quite honest, when I first had the idea for this daily routine post I envisioned it to be completely different. I was going to write all about how we get through everything in our day to day routine as a full time working mother from the office but life has quickly changed since two weeks ago when I first thought of this post! To adapt to our life as it is right now, I thought I would work on a post on how we are trying to keep a routine in our lives while still being able to get through everything during the day. I wrote down how our entire days have been going this past week and thought I would share! Keep reading for our current routine!
DAILY ROUTINE
MORNING
In the morning it is important for me to wake up at least an hour before Cameron gets up. When I was heading to the office, this was important to me because it was my time to get ready and catch up on the news, emails, etc. before I shifted my focus to toddler time. Now I use this hour or two before Cameron gets up to have a coffee, fold some laundry, and log into work before he gets up. This extra time gives me a head start on my day so I don’t feel rushed with my work.
The remainder of the morning is more of a slower pace. Cameron and I will play for a little while, I will get myself ready, and then will sit down and have some solid focus time. This focus time doesn’t come un interrupted though. If you follow me on Instagram, you know Cameron is currently potty training. So sometimes it is a potty break and sometimes Cameron needs a snack. I just keep in mind that those two hours, I need to complete as much as possible!
We then will break for lunch, Cameron takes a nap, and I get a workout in! I have been either running 2 miles on the treadmill or taking a live class from my local Pure Barre studio!
AFTERNOON
In the afternoon Cameron will nap usually 1-2 hours. During this time I will finish up work and get my workout in. If he doesn’t nap, we will have lunch together and do an activity. Some of the activities we have done include coloring, ABC Mouse, and opening up a treasure chest. If you have not use ABC Mouse for your kids yet, I definitely recommend checking it out! There are lessons, songs, and games! I also ordered a bunch of activities for his birthday! Sharing them below.
From 2-4PM I use this time to focus again and finish up as much work as possible before taking a break. As long as I am finished up with any pressing issues by 4PM, I will close my computer and take Brady and Cameron for a walk. We spend some time outside and then head back in to start dinner. After dinner, we have Cameron focus time and start our bedtime routine which is usually a bath, some games, and cuddling while watching a show. Cameron’s bedtime is 8PM and he is usually asleep by 8:30.
Once Cameron is asleep, I will head upstairs to my home office and check my work emails one last time to make sure there is nothing I missed. Sometimes there are a few things I need to finish up for work but once I am finished, I will work on any blog work I need to get done. I will edit photos, finish up my blog post for the next day, respond to any emails, and respond to DMs. Once I have completed that, I will start my bedtime routine and get into bed. My goal is usually to be asleep by 10:30!
