Happy Friday All! Today is a special day because it is my birthday and it is a milestone birthday! That’s right, I turn 30 years old today! I honestly can’t believe it! In my post on Instagram last night I talked about a few of my accomplishments over the past year (you can check it out here) but as always one of my best accomplishments is Cameron! So today I am sharing my tips for making the morning fun with Walmart!
Morning is my favorite time of the day because Cameron and I get an extra hour of doing whatever we want to do. Some mornings we just snuggle on the couch and watch a few shows, sometimes we indulge in a donut, but a lot of the time we like to play! This morning was a lot of fun for us because we took out a new Munchkin Fishing play set we just got from Walmart and our new Parent’s Choice Step Stool and we spent some time playing in the water! Cameron often asks me if he can wash his hands so I knew that a step stool would be the perfect addition to our kitchen! This way he can safely reach the sink and play with his toys and cups! I sip my coffee and watch him play and learn. I ask questions like the colors and what the toys are and it helps us to build on his language skills.
Walmart is my favorite place to shop for all things Cameron and baby! You can see a few of our other Walmart posts here, here, and here. October is Walmart’s exclusive baby brand, Parent’s Choice’s 20th Anniversary. Parent’s Choice is a brand that provides safe, quality products. They have everything from diapers and wipes to our new favorite step stool and an inflatable safety bathtub! Check out Cameron below using the step stool and find our three tips for making the morning fun!
TIPS FOR MAKING THE MORNING FUN
- TAKE IT SLOW – One of the things I do every morning is wake up well before I know Cameron will be up and get myself ready for the day. That way once he is up the focus is on him and now us trying to rush to get ready. We take it slow in the morning by letting Cameron wake up on his own and stay in pajamas until about 15 minutes before it is time to go. Doing this also lets him know we need to switch gears and get dressed to head out the door. By the time he is getting dressed lunches are made, I am ready to go and dressed, and the car is packed!
- FOLLOW THEIR LEAD – As I mentioned above, I let Cameron wake up on his own and tell me what he wants to do in the morning. If he wants to sit on the couch he tells me “snuggie on the couch” and sometimes he goes for his basketball hoop and I follow his lead! It is fun to do what he wants because it makes him know it is his time.
- LEARN TOGETHER – I also mentioned above that while we were playing this morning I asked him the colors of his toys and asked their names. I do this often even while we are getting dressed. I have him count to ten or tell me what is on his shirt and the color of my shirt! We are constantly working on his vocabulary and this makes it fun for the both of us.
