Today’s craft was super fun and festive for Cameron and I! I decided I would try my hand at Tassel Garland and found a few tutorials online! I came up with my own way to make them by combining the information I found and wanted to share what we used and how we made them!
TASSEL GARLAND
First, decide on what your theme is going to be. I love that you can literally find any color yarn and decided to make a garland that would work for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I grabbed both green and orange as well as this neutral beige and white. I think I am going to end up using the green for Christmas!
I decided I wanted varying lengths of tassel so I found three different sized books. First, you take a long strip of yarn and tape it to the outer binding of the book. I then took my yarn and wrapped it around 10 times to make the frills. Once I wrapped it around 10 times, I secured it with the string on the top. If you want to see how I did this check out the Reel on my Instagram. I did this for the three different sized and colors until I had four of each color.
Then I used the bead loop tool to string the wooden beads onto each tassel. Once I finished this, I grabbed a long piece of yarn for the tassels to hang off of. Again, I used my bead loop tool to string two beads onto the long piece. Then, tie your first tassel onto the yarn with a double knot and add more two to three more beads. Do this until all of the tassels are tied to the long yarn!
This took us about an hour from start to finish. Cameron was very interested in the beginning but lost interest after it started taking a while. If you have older children, they will probably love to do this with you too!
