In every day life it is sometimes hard to feel inspired. Day in and day out you do the same things. You get up, feed your kids, get dressed, go to work, and do it all over again and again and again. You compare yourself to others, you wish for things you don’t have, and you can get down on yourself easily. I know I can feel uninspired by the day to day activities and have had plenty of times where I can’t help but compare myself to others. In fact, I sometimes feel uninspired by writing strictly about fashion and how I style each piece. It doesn’t always seem authentic and it isn’t what I worry about day to day.
You may have noticed already, but over the past few weeks my blog has made a little bit of a change. If you have been following me for a long time you already know how much I love fashion but in this current point in my life, I have a love for something else. That something else is my family. You may have noticed more iPhone photos and more selfies and that’s simply because those moments are real.
You may begin to see more posts with Cameron, with my husband, and more posts with meaning. You may see posts about beauty, fashion, and what we are eating this week but you will also find posts to also feel inspired by!
Yesterday, I heard a quote and it really stuck with me..
“Thoughts turn into things so choose the right ones.”
By feeling inspired by this I decided to sit down and write this post. This post is meant to share some ways I have been feeling inspired lately!
Since we celebrated Valentine’s Day early last weekend with our trip to Foxwoods, it is looking like our Valentine’s Day will be spent at home this year and I couldn’t be more excited. I love to cook and drink wine and luckily Mark loves to drink wine with me and eat what I cook! This year, I stocked up on some delicious food from Martha and Marley Spoon. I love boxes like this because it takes all of the guess work out of making your meal. Last week, I made Minestrone soup for lunch. You may have caught it on my instastories! Since Mark wasn’t home that day I shared my soup with Cameron. It is so much fun seeing him try all sorts of different foods. In fact I was laughing last night because he hates spaghetti but loves minestrone!
Today’s post has been something I have been wanting to put together for quite some time! As many of you know, I have a career outside of blogging. I work for an amazing company during the day but at night and on the weekends, I spend a lot of time on my blog. Sometimes this means working 80 hour weeks between the two. But to be quite honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have been able to connect with so many people in ways that I never thought were possible and I have been able to feel more confident in my life and career. I love the holiday season and everything that goes along with it, but the weather is cooler and dryer, and my skin and hair have been suffering week after week! Does anyone else have a picky pup? Every day we would put Brady’s food in his bowl and he would walk away seconds later only to take out a few mouthfuls and drop them to the ground. My little guy loves food but he has always been a grazer. He would go back hours later to eat. I chalked it up to the fact that he wanted to be by our side at all times but when we decided to give Freshpet a go, that wasn’t the case!
Finding time to exercise as a new mom is not always easy. I love going to classes and being in a group setting but that is not always possible when you have a five-month-old. For me my solace comes when I exercise. I am able to clear my head and think about something other than the baby or my job. Sometimes I think breaking a sweat and getting my heart racing is my favorite form of meditation.
Since getting to the gym is sometimes impossible, I have looked of ways I can take a break and work up a sweat while I am at home. My favorite way to sneak in a quick workout has recently been with BodyBoss. Sometimes I only have thirty minutes when I get home from work while Cameron takes his afternoon nap. Since I only have short period of time I look for something that I can accomplish a lot in those short quiet moments. Since I only have a short period of time, HIIT workouts are what I have found help me to achieve maximum results. The quick intervals allow me to work up a sweat and burn fat quickly.
One of my favorite things about BodyBoss is that there is a different guided workout for each day of the week. Not only is there a workout for 3 days (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) of the week, there are also stretches/cool down exercises for you to work on before you workout and you are told which days should be rest days as well.
Luckily I have a treadmill at home so I can hop on it for a quick cardio workout on my rest days. Sometimes I will take my entire workout outside for a change of scenery!
