Since we celebrated Valentine’s Day early last weekend with our trip to Foxwoods, it is looking like our Valentine’s Day will be spent at home this year and I couldn’t be more excited. I love to cook and drink wine and luckily Mark loves to drink wine with me and eat what I cook! This year, I stocked up on some delicious food from Martha and Marley Spoon. I love boxes like this because it takes all of the guess work out of making your meal. Last week, I made Minestrone soup for lunch. You may have caught it on my instastories! Since Mark wasn’t home that day I shared my soup with Cameron. It is so much fun seeing him try all sorts of different foods. In fact I was laughing last night because he hates spaghetti but loves minestrone!
Mark and I are wine drinkers. In fact we prefer a bottle of wine over anything else. I love wine boxes but my all time favorite has to be Martha Steward Wine Co. Over the summer we enjoyed the Sip of Summer Box. This box was full of crisp white wines and rosé. Since we normally would grab for a bottle of red, I decided that we would give the Valentines Day Reds Gift Set a try!
Our box contained six red wines and we both were so excited to open it up and see the variety. Some of the wines included a Rhone, Merlot, and a Cabernet. The bottles were wines I had never tried before which is what I LOVE about the Martha Steward Wine Co. Heading to wineries and trying new wines is one of our favorite things to do!
Our Valentine’s Day menu will consist of a bottle of Merlot we received and a meal from Martha & Marley Spoon. As I mentioned above, I already made the Minestrone and shared it with my son but I was saving the Meatball and Orzo Stew for us to enjoy tomorrow! Since it is a week night a quick meal that we can make together will be our best option! Plus we can relax with our son at home!
A sweet little touch to your valentines day meal are these Martha Stewart Heart Cocoettes. A great way to use them would be to make a delicious chocolate lava cake inside and top with some ice cream! The set comes with four so I think I am going to serve our dinner in them and also make a lava cake! If you are looking for a simple recipe, check out my Molten Lava Cake recipe here. This recipe has a salty touch with chocolate covered pretzels. Plus what goes better together than chocolate!
